Adventurous Sunday

Life is a game, and like it or not we are in the game until the end.  We have the choice to get off of our ass and play the game as best as we can, or we can watch the game take place from the stands.  Either way, we are in the game and the game will go on- until the end.

Today was intended to be a laundry and catch up day, but I decided otherwise.  After a quick call with my babe I was out the door!  I wasn't sure where I was going but I had a few ideas.  One of those ideas was St. Kilda’s Beach since its nearby and the sun was finally out again. After the beach I intended to head over to Commercial Street (by tram!) and buy a coat.  Its getting cold already!

I studied my tram routes closely on the map to ensure that I knew which direction I was going and what tram to hop.  Just as I stepped outside, the sun ducked behind the clouds and the rain started to lightly fall.  It was about ten minutes before the tram arrived and then another 15 minute ride to the beach. When I got off the tram the clouds let loose a torrential rain storm.  There I was standing in a new section of town with no clue where to go for cover.  This was not normal rain either... I'm talking pelting rain and blowing wind!  After a quick look around I spotted a bar/restaurant.  How convenient!

At first I thought the restaurant was closed because there wasn't a soul inside.  Seconds later I was greeted by the waiter/bartender/maitre de (all the same guy) and invited to sit.  It turns out that the place specialized in steak- my favorite!  The guy working the joint didn't have much choice but to talk to me since I was the only one in the place.  Our banter revealed that he was from the UK and that he recently moved to OZ.  After a bit of time another employee arrived who was also a Brit.  Since the rain wasn't stopping I ended up moving from the booth to the bar.  I was still the only customer!  Two hours passed and the three of us just chatted up a storm.  God knows how many shots we did together, but both guys were lots of fun and they had some great stories to share.  Each had travelled a great deal around Europe and Asia.  I find it amazing to learn how much some people have already seen and done in their life.  Their stories were incredible and also quite funny.  Finally the rain stopped so I made a dash for the beach with hopes of shooting a bit of film before heading off to my next stop- Commercial Street.

I jumped a tram and made it to Commercial Street, but I can end the story by telling you that I never bought my coat.  What I did buy was priceless though, and that was new experiences and memories.  To be quite honest, I was feeling a bit guilty for spending so much at the restaurant.  I blew $120 between the meal and the drinks.  Its easy to do here though!  Everything is so expensive compared to home.  Anyway, I had a great time chatting away the hours with the two Brits.  I even took some undercover video!   You know how I love to film!

HERE are the highlights of yesterday and today.  I guess I will buy my coat next paycheck. :)
