No Longer in Kansas, or Florida for that Matter

Even the most mundane things feel so different in OZ.  Yesterday I went to the grocery store and almost had a panic attack.  There were two sets of checkout lines, one in the back of the store and one in the front, and many of the brands were foreign to me.  I literally walked up and down each isle not knowing what to buy.  Imagine what I must have looked like to the store security!  Its incredible how “out of my element” I felt.  Shopping for clothes was pretty much the same experience.  The styles are completely different (to me) and the prices are astronomically higher than what I am used to seeing.  Perhaps its just the area that I am in, or the strip of shops that I am visiting.  I’m not sure, but the cheapest jacket that I found (and liked) was $149!  Several of the jackets were well over $250!!  I’d rather freeze or, more realistically, wait for Chris to arrive with a coat from home.  Lastly there is the movie theater.  A seat is actually assigned with each ticket purchase.  Assigned seats?  Really??  Hey, it works…

Things at work are really moving along quickly now.  It almost feels like a routine.  Not quite, but almost.  The biggest struggle has been adjusting to working around such a large number of people.  Sometimes its hard to fall into my zone of concentration with all of the action going on around me.  I’m learning to deal with the distractions by employing my own distractions- earphones and music.  The number of interviews that I have lined up is growing quickly and becoming a challenge to schedule and keep straight.  Its a good problem to have and another area for personal growth.  By the time this six months is over I should be an expert in time management.  In theory anyway.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about another oddity here, and that is the urinals!  Not my favorite by any stretch.  I will leave you with a picture and you can thank me later! :)

PS- I wonder if the gals pee in the same fashion?

Toodles…
